Popular MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury alias Nixon Chowdhury is a member of the presidium of Juba League, an affiliate of Awami League. In 2014 and 2016, he lost the boat candidate in the two-term parliamentary elections and became an independent MP. He had not held any party post before.
On his verified Facebook page, Nixon Chowdhury wrote, "I would like to thank Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Kanya, President of Bangladesh Awami League and Hon'ble Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and Dr. Fazle Shams Parash Bhai for electing me as a member of the Presidium of Bangladesh Awami Juba League."
